The author proposes that by singing to the unborn or to the infant, doing infant massage, providing visual stimuli, reading to children at any age, or merely responding appropriately to signals or questions,  one increases interest in many things and heightens interaction,  thus improving the relationship between caretaker and child.  This in itself produces a pleasant and conducive atmosphere for learning.
